Step-by-step

Installing Chronos Notice

It installs like any Windows app — with a couple of extra clicks the first time, because we're a new publisher and haven't bought Microsoft's code-signing certificate yet. You'll see one prompt as the download finishes and one when you run it. Here's exactly what each looks like.

Keep the file when your browser asks

As the download finishes, your browser may say the file “isn't commonly downloaded” or “could harm your device,” and look like it blocked it. That's the same new-publisher reputation prompt — not a virus alert — and it happens before you open anything.

Microsoft Edge: point at the download in the bar, click the ⋯ (More actions) → Keep → Keep anyway. Chrome: click the ⌃ arrow (or Keep) next to the file → Keep anyway. The installer then sits safely in your Downloads folder.

Run the installer

Double-click Chronos-Notice-Setup.exe from your Downloads folder.

Get past “Windows protected your PC”

This build isn't code-signed yet, so Windows shows a blue “Windows protected your PC” notice the first time — it's not a virus warning. Click the small More info link, then the Run anyway button that appears.

After “More info”, the publisher will read Unknown publisher — that's expected for an unsigned installer (a signed release is on the way). Prefer to verify first? Right-click the .exe → Properties → tick Unblock → OK, then double-click again.

Finish the install

Accept the default location (or change it) → Next → Install → Finish. A Chronos Notice shortcut lands on your desktop and Start menu.

First run — the quick setup wizard

The first launch runs a short wizard (about two minutes). It opens with a system check — green ticks confirm everything it needs is in place. Click Continue through each step.

Create your account

Click Continue with Google (fastest), or use an email + password. Your email becomes your account ID.

You're in

Your 7-day free trial starts now — 10 document scans + 10 manual entries, all features unlocked. The countdown chip sits at the top of the app.

Frequently asked

Before you install

Is the “Windows protected your PC” screen dangerous?

No. It's a reputation prompt, not a malware alert. New software from small publishers always triggers it. Click More info → Run anyway.

Will my antivirus block it?

Almost never. If it does, it's the same reputation issue — choose Allow / Keep. The app makes no system changes beyond a normal install.

Where is my data?

Your notices, PDFs and extracted details live on your own computer. We only store your account + subscription info — never your documents.

Does it need internet?

For sign-in and to read documents with AI, yes — so stay connected for the best scan quality. Manual entry works offline, and any scan you drop while offline is saved and processed automatically when you reconnect.

What happens after the 7-day trial?

The app shows a friendly thank-you screen and a way to get the full version. Your scanned notices stay safe in your data folder — nothing is deleted.

I had an older version installed — the new one looks the same?

Uninstall the old one, run the Clean-Reinstall helper we provide, then install the new version. That clears the old saved state so you get a genuine fresh start.
